What is Yoga ?



According to Maharshi patanjali yoga is the state of samadhi or bleesfull state.

like "Yogas chit vriti nirodhah" (PYS-1/2)

yoga is a way of living a complete life. it is a method which overhauls all aspects of human personality. it is a system of integral and spiritual education, education not only of the body and the mind or the itellect but also of the inner spirit.

it is an art of right living. a yogic practitioner has learned the art of right living is happy, harmonious, peaceful and tension free.

yoga is a science perfected by ancient seers, i.e. risis not merely of india but humanity, sa a whole. it is an exact science, a perfect practical system of self culture.

yoga is very ancient science that flourished in the world and especially in india, it is an inseparable part of every indian's life. but now it is being accepted the world over again and is becoming part of every mans existence.

The vedic Mantras and the Upnishads have deeply eludidated this science.

Yoga is science of man. yoga is considered to be a science of man which explores the avenues for human functioning. it presents a scientific picture of man, its characteristics, values, functions and realities of life.

According to modern approaches : -

  • Yoga is Essentially spritual and an Art and Science of Halthy Living.
  • Yoga is the science of Prevention & promotion of the complete Health.
  • The ultimate goal of Yoga is to overcome all kinds of Suffering (there are three kinds of Dukhas, Adhidaivik, Adhibhautik, Adhyatmik) and its root cause, ignorance which leads to ultimate freedom (Moksha).
  • Yoga is practiced as a preventive medicine since the ancient times and its very beneficial in the management of all kinds of diseases & Sufferings.
